“what a pleasure it was to deal with the crew who were artisans”
March 15, 2017
To whom it may concern:
This letter is in support of Mr. Jonas Spring in his capacity as owner/manager of Ecoman Corporation, Landscape Designers and Contractors.
We own a single-family Richardsonian Romanesque home situated on a 44 x 140 foot lot in the Annex area of Toronto. Last year, seventeen years after our initial renovation and landscaping we decided to reinvest significantly in the complete re-landscaping of the property. After concluding that a conventional landscape architect could not provide us with a satisfactory design, we consulted with Janet Mott at Christine’s Touch landscape maintenance firm in the belief that they were both experienced and capable of recommending a landscape designer or design/builder suitable for our property. They provided us with a list of 5 or 6 candidates. We immediately chose Ecoman. We felt, justifiably, that he could provide a unique or fresh approach to the job because he specializes in single-family residential homes and is a relatively new firm.
We first met with Jonas (who was removing his dirty knee pads but wearing his signature tie and vest) and were impressed with his hands on, personal, creative yet practical approach. He is extremely knowledgeable and capable in all aspects of his work. Over several meetings he listened to our views, discussed budget and scheduling and began to blend our vision with our budget and with the physical conditions and limitations of the site. We were impressed with the ongoing communications and consultation as the plans unfolded during both the design phase, the working drawings phase and the subsequent construction phase. All the inevitable challenges inherent in any construction job were met with equanimity, good spirit and a shared sense of ‘can-do’.
The job entailed demolition, earth grading and complicated drainage work, plantings, fencing, masonry and metal work, driveway cobblestone reconstruction and creative stone bench construction. He dealt with the neighbours, making the process pleasant and virtually care-free for us. We would also add what a pleasure it was to deal with the crew who were artisans: unobtrusive, tidy, very careful with plants, reusing and saving existing plants where possible and appropriate. The job was completed ‘on budget and on schedule’.
We are pleased to recommend Mr. Jonas Spring and the Ecoman Corporation without reservation and would be happy to speak further with you.
