Severance
I am a city kid born and raised. There is a sort of pride in it. Even though I had a wonderful connection with nature growing up, I always felt like I was overstepping my bounds and that nature wasn’t meant for me.
As I grew older I realized that nature is everywhere, the ecological principles that rule the forest are just as relevant in a back alley. My aesthetic is rooting for the little plant busting through the cracks. Small victories in the ground zero of the concrete jungle.
I feel that it is better to be at ground zero watching for the small victories than living in rural Ontario seeing the big losses. Development of prime agricultural land, concrete skin over soil that is a million years old. That kind of sadness I could not bare to watch. I signed on to Severance to participate in a discussion about protecting our connection to the land.
